First Class Promotion

June 22nd, 2008 by twanablesi

By Rohn Engh Here at PhotoSource International, I see many examples of promotional materials from photographers. A surprising amount is inadequate and even unprofessional. Surprising, because much of it comes from seasoned stock photographers who are either full-time pros or committed part-timers. I can understand their thinking: “Why should I spend hundreds of dollars on promoting my work when I know it is topnotch. The images sell themselves, I don’t need a fancy brochure.” But they may be losing sales and turning off contracts by such an approach. Look at the PR question from the perspective of a different field. You are going to vacation for three weeks in the Caribbean. At a travel agency you browse the display shelf and narrow your choices down to five spots. You take their brochures home, and finally you decide on Aruba. What led to this decision? Without a first class brochure that could compete with all of the other brochures on the display rack, Aruba would never have been in the running with you. Can you picture the officials at Aruba saying, “Let’s save money! We know we’ve got a garden spot here; we can just photocopy our brochure.” If you want first class attention from your editors, you need to give them first class treatment. Don’t expect the fine quality of your images to carry the whole banner for your promo materials. To photobuyers, you are just another talent among so many talented photographers out there. Give your promo materials the attention, support, and dollars that they deserve. Let them help you stand out, and get your work noticed. Dare To Dye Your Lashes

June 19th, 2008 by twanablesi

By Jaks Lloyd Lots of people have such fair eyelashes that they need to wear mascara all the time, but overuse can cause drying out of the lashes which in turn can cause dryness and possibly consequent fall out. This is why there is such a demand from the clients of beauty salons worldwide for a permanent solution to eyelash color. So voila - Eyelash Dye. There are also times when wearing mascara is out of the question. For instance if you are swimming or going to the gym and you still want to look good. Who wants their eyes to look ‘piggy’piggy’ (ie small) and you’re not going to look your best. Are you? If you thinking about dyeing your lashes you’ll read lots about the dangers of the procedure. Well let me tell you, I’ve often had it done and guess what? No problems. As long as you go to a good reputable salon you will be OK What you must never do is try it at home. Why take the chance. It’s too near your eyes to take chances If you decide that you really do want to do this at home, possibly because of cost or convenience, please understand that you will almost certainly never get professional results. It’s like comparing most things done by a professional. They are usually 150% times better- even something as apparently simple as painting a wall will look better when a professional does it, i.e. streaks, runs, not enough preparation etc etc. etc. - need I go on. The Advantages of Eyelash Dye No need to wear mascara Great if you’re allergic to mascara. Who doesn’t want to wake up in the morning with beautiful dark silky lashes? Fabulous for holidays when you are on the beach and in the sea. The Disadvantages of Eyelash Dye Cost, although compares favorably with many other beauty treatments. The inconvenience of going to a salon. It’s not permanent and has to be renewed regularly. Do your own research if you are still worried. All I can say that is you follow all the guidelines you ever read on what to do and what not to do in your life you will never do a thing. Advanced Body Acceptance: The Secret To Weight Loss Success

June 15th, 2008 by twanablesi

By Annette Colby Self-acceptance and body love can be tough concepts to grasp and even tougher to incorporate. The degree of difficulty doesnt seem to matter if youre thin or very large or somewhere in-between. It takes time and persistence to create a new belief about ones self and ones body. Dont worry so much about losing your old beliefs about yourself. Instead, take the time to build new beliefs. In a way, building self acceptance and body acceptance are a little like creating a homemade tapered candle. You start with only the wick. The wick represents your desire to create something new. You begin by dipping the wick into a vat of wax, pull it out and wait for it to dry, and continue the process over and over again until the candle is perfectly formed. The same with self-acceptance. If you currently hate your body, your body parts, and/or yourself, its time to begin somewhere. At first, you might not notice much change. Yet with each new thought that is consciously entered into the mind, we can create new beliefs and a new sense of self-acceptance. Like the gradual layering of the wax upon the wick, we can create positive, self-loving thoughts that begin to take hold and form shape. Make Peace with Yourself Dont believe everything you think. Start thinking from your heart instead of your head. Allow your heart to be in control and believe it over your mind. Your heart is kind and loving and wishes to receive love into itself. Open your heart. Flow this love deep into your body. Imagine yourself drinking deeply, taking this love in, digesting and absorbing all this love into your own physical body. Look in the Mirror Make the bold move to have heartfelt generosity for your body. Hear your objections and then . . . surrender. Take a moment in the mirror to stop and consciously be grateful for the gift of your body. Concentrate on your wealth! Look at everything you have - tangible or intangible - and feel grateful for your wealth. Feel good about your body today and it will become easier to eat healthy. Show up in front of the mirror with an idea you are really wanting. Allow yourself to be clear that it is the feeling you are really wanting, not just the better body. Live In The Now When you are waiting for something to occur, you are not focused on what is occurring now. Yes, it is wonderful to be excited by the expectancy of achieving your goals. It is wonderful to feel the excitement fill your body as you imagine having what you want. But then it is necessary to bring your joy back into the present time of now. Ask yourself how you can bring fullness into this moment. What could you focus on to enhance this moment of now? What is there in this moment to feel gratitude for? Accept What Is For most people, accepting their current physical body is the last thing they want to consider. How can you accept something you wish to change or something you hate? The immediate reaction is to make the present situation go away. To escape from it. But there is no escape from anything. What we resist persists. Only by allowing reality and embracing it can we then create something new. The only way out is through. The way to achieve the body you want is to first be in harmony with it. The body is not your enemy. The body loves you and simply reflects the energy within. Accept what is without resistance. Ask yourself (with gentleness), What are the feelings within me that have created this situation? All along, soothe yourself with a wisdom that reassures you are now creating an opportunity to know more about your heart, to know more about love. Mind over Matter Negative self-talk is destructive to your happiness and your goals. We are all human and almost everyones body has some perceived flaws or imperfections. Yet our flaws make us unique. To love our body we must begin somewhere. Even if that beginning is a lie, we must begin. In the group AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) there is a saying, Fake it until you make it. Meaning, say and do the behaviors you wish to embody until they become real. This takes courage, responsibility and risk. And yet, if you never begin, if you never risk, you will never know the divine truth of who you really are. Treat Your Body Well When we understand and appreciate our bodies, we are able to work with them, not against them. Learn to be in loving acceptance of your own beauty. Allow for the possibility that you deserve what you have requested, and you deserve to know and appreciate who you are. Imagine your life as you incorporate more and more self-loving aspects: Be attracted to what lifts you up. Let go of what pulls you down. Consciously seek out more experiences that feel good. Focus your eyes on what is larger more than on what is smaller. Laugh so hard tears come from your eyes. Dance and sing with wild abandon while listening to your favorite song. Tell yourself you are beautiful. Swing on a swing in the playground. Mail yourself a love letter. Clean out your closet and get rid of any clothes that dont fit you. Wear clothes that fit you, and that you feel good in. Develop a partnership with food. Fall in love with yourself. Great Beauty Secrets You Must Know

June 1st, 2008 by twanablesi

By Adam Asar BEAUTY THROUGHOUT THE AGES If you think today’s obsession with beauty is something new, think again! Men AND women have been in touch with their bodies and beauty dating back as far as the ancient Egyptians. The Egyptian’s concern was based as much on pleasing the gods of their time as it was for personal adornment. In fact, it could be said that they prepared their bodies more for the afterlife than the current time. All one need do is read about the tombs and mummies that have been excavated and study what was found. Lavish pictorial examples reveal how extravagantly the aristocracy lived their lives. Just take a look at the detail the next time you have an opportunity to view Egyptian archaeology reports. Gold and silver bracelets, lapis and jade pendants, rings of gold studded with semi-precious stones. All are evidence of just how deeply involved the human race is with beauty and adornments. IS BEAUTY REALLY SKIN DEEP? The answer is yes and no. Its a paradox, isnt it? True beauty begins from the inside out. Dont you wish there were some way to wriggle your nose and regain that soft skin you had as a child? Well, until someone comes up with the true Fountain of Youth, we are stuck with what we have. The best route to healthy skin is to take care of what you have. Sounds simple, doesnt it? The truth is that your skin takes a beating from the environment every single day. Here are some of our favorite tips for keeping your skin fresh and healthy: 1. Stay hydrated, and drink plenty of water! That doesnt mean soda, caffeine or any other type of liquid even if it is low cal. Soda (even diet soda) has a high concentration of sodium. Sodium retains fluids. You need fluid that will hydrate and flush your body free of toxins. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses a day! 2. Protect your skin from harmful ultra violet (UV) rays. We all love the sun. We love being in it and we love having a beautiful tan. The truth is you can poison yourself with too much sunshine. UV rays cause skin cancer, and if that isnt bad enough, it causes your skin to age faster than it should, contributing to unsightly wrinkles. If you must play in the sun, make certain you are using an adequate sun screen. Dont leave home without it! 3. Apply your sun screen even if you only make a quick trip to the grocery store. Yes, you can get harmful UV rays even while driving your car! 4. When you purchase sun screen, make certain you are buying the right tool for the job. There are different types of UV rays and they dont all affect our skin in the same ways. The time of year also has a bearing on how much damage the sun can do to your skin. Altitude is another important factor. UV rays are more intense at high altitudes. Sunshine alone is not the culprit. You can do just as much damage to your skin (or in some cases even more) on a cloudy day! 5. Dont forget sun screen for your lips. They want to be healthy too! 6. Apply your sunscreen BEFORE going outdoors and allow plenty of time for it to adequately absorb into your skin cells rather than just sitting on top of the skin. 7. Read the labels on skin care products. The truth is that some ingredients may do more harm than good. The more ingredients are listed, the more potential harm they can do to your skin. THE EYES HAVE IT! They dont call them the windows to the soul for nothing! The eyes never lie. If youre feeling and looking great, your eyes will shine and sparkle. If youre sad and lonely your eyes will give you away every time. If you have red, watery eyes due to allergies, deal with them! There are plenty of medications available to eliminate allergy symptoms. Nothing will detract from your appearance faster than red eyes. If you wear eyeglasses, make certain that they do not detract from your appearance. Eyeglasses should complement your eyes, not cover them. If your frames are unattractive, it means you had the wrong sales person. Try again. If you can wear them, consider switching to contact lenses. Make sure you remember to remove them when swimming. You can easily lose them in the pool or worse, if you wear soft lenses you could contract a cornea infection that comes from a parasite found in water. The chlorine wont kill it and the result of this nasty little dude is not pleasant. You are inviting painful corneal infection that could cause partial or total blindness. Try buying different colored lenses. You might discover a whole new you behind blue eyes! HAND IT OFF! Did you know . . . many ancient beauty treatments are still in use today? An example is the East Indian art of painting the hands and feet with Henna. It is known in India as Mendhi and is an ancient Indian art form which has been performed for generations not only in India, but the Middle East, Pakistan and in Africa as well. Women in India traditionally painted henna on their hands and feet, insides of their arms and up their shins most often for a wedding, or other special occasion. The intricate patterns on the hands are particularly beautiful. Nothing will give away your age quicker than the condition of your hands. Lets take a look at some tips to try and hold off the ravages of time. While we dont particularly recommend the practice of mendhi for everyday USA, it would be helpful in covering up some of those age spots, wouldnt it? Try this tip. Apply vitamin E oil directly to the spots to fade the discoloration. There is also a product thats been around since Grandma was a youngster. Its called porcelana and women have credited it for removing age spots for decades. If you spend hours at a time on the computer, be sure you use a rest for your wrists. It will help ward off carpal tunnel syndrome. THESE FEET WERE MADE FOR WALKIN Did you know . . . an average human being loses almost a cup of liquid a day through their feet? Or that a babys foot is made up almost entirely of cartilage? They will harden as the feet grow. Keep a pumice stone handy so you can put it to work on those heels as you step out of the shower. Use a few drops of essential oil in your next footbath! Pamper your feet. Treat yourself to a pedicure! Try a foot massage. Its relaxing and rejuvenating. Try it on yourself or ask your partner and trade off. Everyone wins! If your ankles and feet are swelling, its a sure sign you are holding fluids. Try to avoid sitting for long periods at a time and cut down on your salt intake. Stilettos are beautiful and yes, they do make you look sexy, HOWEVER, you should avoid long walks while wearing them. In fact, you should always wear sensible shoes. Ha! Fat chance, right? Seriously, what about a compromise? Wear sensible shoes when you are coming and/or going from work and keep the heels in a tote bag. For extremely dry feet, lather on a layer of cocoa butter to each foot, slip your feet into plastic bags and pull on a pair of oversize socks. Leave on overnight while sleeping and when you awaken the next morning your feet will feel smooth, silky and soft. Add milk to a footbath for softening the feet. HOW TO AVOID BAD HAIR DAYS They say that a womans hair is her crowning glory. Even so, all women have those days when we wish we could cover every unwieldy strand! Get a good hair cut! It all begins right here. Without a good hair cut, nothing else you do will give you the results you want. In order to have a good hair cut, you need a great hair stylist and when you find one, keep him/her! Jumping around from stylist to stylist can be hazardous to your hair. The old adage about getting what you pay for is very true when it comes to something as important as your stylist. Yes, its possible to find a good stylist at the fast hair shops, but the cost to your hair while searching may be more than you care to spend. Fast hair shops usually employ new, young stylists with little experience. They earn a minimal wage and do not have to invest in hair care products to use on their clients. Stylists that you find in upscale shops and salons are usually independent contractors leasing space in the salon. The salon provides the work station, utilities and in some cases a receptionist to service the stylists. These stylists are generally more experienced and have built a solid clientele. They purchase their own products used in servicing their clients either from the salon or other suppliers and set their own prices. HOW IS YOUR SMILE? Did you know . . . a knocked out tooth may be replanted if you act quickly? Dont clean the tooth, just wrap it in a damp cloth and hustle off to the dentist. If you can get there within 30 minutes youve got a 90% chance of saving it. If you wear braces, get extra calcium. Adjusting the position of teeth can leave small gaps in the jawbone. These need to be replaced with new bone. Take it as a supplement or eat plenty of green leafy vegetables. ITS THE LITTLE THINGS Did you know . . . even in the enlightened period of time we live in, most women do not conduct regular breast exams on themselves? So what is a segment on breast exam doing in a beauty book? Well, in order to use the tips in this guide, you have to be around to do it! Make a self-exam of your breasts part of your daily beauty routine. It doesnt take long and you can do it in the shower or in the bath. Just do it. More than 90 percent of all breast lumps are discovered by women themselves. The majority of all breast lumps are benign. One in ten women will develop breast cancer at some time in her life. Thus far, breast cancer cannot be prevented. But, with regular breast self-examination (BSE) and periodic screening, breast cancer can be detected early and treated properly! If you dont know how to conduct the exam, ask your doctor for a chart that will teach you how. Then just do it! Remember to keep a smile on your face! ———————— In the beginning man worked hard to survive. He had many things to do. Hunting, keeping warm, finding berries, and taking care of his family. He did not have time to worry about being fat, as there wasn’t an issue of fat. It was survival of the fittest, those that were not fit, perished, or had someone to watch over them. Man’s goal was survival. Women labored hard, and many died in childbirth. There were many deaths of their infants, so women kept reproducing to keep the family surviving. They scrubbed, cooked, gathered food and wood and tended after the children. They did not have time to worry about things that made them happy or not happy. Their goal was survival. Well, times have changed, people don’t work physically as hard as their ancestors did, they lose fewer children and the dying in labor has been brought down to a small percentage. Emergency hospitals with ambulances and new technology and medicines have saved the lives of countless people. Living a Healthier life is rather simple. It is the matter of knowing some essential ingredients to happiness. Statistics tell you the following: Those who are married are far happier than those who are not. Those who have some kind of faith or religion are happier Those who go to bed at night and sleep an average of 8 hours Those who have friends and family Those who are mentally and physically healthy Those who have a regular schedule to live by Sure, having extra money makes people happier too. However, the above ingredients are the true essence of happiness. Money just adds extra. Having money and not the above can end up feeling pretty empty. ADD IT TO YOUR LIFE…. Water, you need water. Try to add at least 4 more glasses of water to your daily diet. The rule of thumb for water is 8 glasses per day; and one extra for every ten pounds overweight you are. Fats, you need to know about fats. There are different kinds of fats. Some fats are better for you than others. A rule of thumb on fats is, stay away from hydrogenated fats. These are fats that solidify. They are in store bought cakes, cookies, crackers, chips and even in bran muffins. Read the labels. Choose fats that are polyunsaturated or fats such as olive oil. And, eat some fish to get some omega-3 fats. Carbohydrates are your immediate fuel source. An average is about 55 percent of your diet in carbohydrates. So, a rule of thumb is, figure your protein grams, get around 25% fat per day, and the rest would be in carbohydrates. The heavier you are, the more protein you need and the fewer carbohydrates you will need. Fiber - work up to getting 25 grams of Fiber per day Protein - averages about 20 percent. Women divide weight by 2.2 and multiply that by .8 to get the kilograms. For men it averages one gram per each kilogram of weight. So, a man would divide his weight in pounds by 2.2 then multiply that by .10 Fats - try not to exceed more than 25 percent fat in your daily diet. 30 percent is acceptable, too. That does not mean you can’t have a junk food fast food hamburger … it just means that if you do eat that 55 percent fat burger that you are going to have to cut down on other fat filled foods for the rest of the day to balance it out. Make exchanges gradually. Suppose you drink whole milk … work down to 2 percent, replacing two of your cups per day until you can completely change over. If you are on two percent milk, work down to 1 percent. Add bran to your cereals for extra fiber. Also, add it in your baking. You need to balance your diet with vegetables and fruits, too. Try adding different colors to your plate. Maybe an orange yam, and some green beans, to add color. More variety of food colors brings more variety of vitamins. Eat more raw foods. Remember, exchange things, add things, and do it gradually. Remember, live all things in life in moderation and soon you will be bouncy and vibrant and well on your way to living BEAUTIFULLY! Tuscan Garden Design

May 29th, 2008 by twanablesi

By Hans Dekker If youre looking for a beautiful, old world garden style, then you should look into designing a Tuscan garden design. There are several different things that you can do with a Tuscan garden design, but there are a few things that you should keep in mind if youre planning on a Tuscan garden design. First of all, if youre aiming for a Tuscan garden design, then youll definitely want to aim for a Mediterranean feel. This is easy to do if youre planning to design your own garden, and there are just a few important tips that you should try to follow if you want a Tuscan garden design. One thing that is very helpful is if you can design or add a wall fountain to the garden. The wall fountain (as opposed to a free-standing fountain) adds an air of older elegance, and definitely gives the impression that youre in a Mediterranean garden. Iron wrought benches can also help you achieve a Tuscan garden design, as well as a lot of terra cotta planters. In fact, one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get a Tuscan garden design is to use terra cotta plant containers instead of containers made out of other materials. If the shape is like older vases, then that is even better. Garden design landscaping can also go a long way toward helping you make a Tuscan garden design. One important thing to remember is that a lot of Tuscan gardens have flagstone pathways leading in between patches of different flowers. If at all possible, you should try to design your garden so that you can put in pathways. The final, and most important part of any Tuscan garden design is that you use the right types of plants. By using plants, herbs and flowers that grow primarily in the Mediterranean, you can make your garden appear to be a real Tuscan garden. Ask the Right Questions Before You Book Your Wedding Reception

May 26th, 2008 by twanablesi

By Blake Kritzberg Think saying “I do” is going to be the most emotional moment in your wedding? Probably so, but putting down a deposit on your wedding venue could be a close runner-up. Reception costs consume almost half the budget for the wedding, which these days means you can expect to lay out almost $13,000, including food. And the venue you select can not only limit your choice of caterers or bakers, it’s sure to affect how much you spend to “cover up” its weak spots or accent its highlights. Most stressful of all, the popular venues book far in advance, forcing brides to make the big decision almost as soon as they set the date. For that reason, the savvy venue-hunter wants to know what questions to ask before she walks in the door, much less signs the contract. Here are a few ideas: Do you have a pre-set list of caterers I can use, or can I choose my own? Some venues — high-end ones with their own catering staff, or small-town ones with little competition — require you to use the in-house caterers or choose from a small list of “approved” vendors. It can be difficult to get taste-tests or otherwise put this type of vendor through its paces. If you’re stuck with such a list, search high and low for brides who have “been there, done that” and can give you their honest opinions. Any restrictions on decorations? Many venues have them, but rules vary widely from place to place. Common restrictions include: no open flame (or no flame whatsoever), no tape or tacks on the walls, or no confetti. When linens are provided, some halls will prohibit the use of pins. Ask if the hall can provide any decorations themselves, especially around holidays. Useful centerpiece items such as hurricane lamps or Eiffel vases are not uncommon. Can we bring our own liquor, is there a “corkage” fee, and do we need a license? If the liquor’s to flow freely at your wedding, you’ll save an immense amount of moolah by bringing your own. But some venues prohibit this and require you to buy from them. Even worse is the venue that says “yes” to bringing your own alcohol, but charges you a mandatory “corkage fee” to serve it — which typically starts at an unbelievable $10 per bottle or more! You’ll want to be crystal-clear on the fine print regarding alcohol before you commit to a venue. As for licensing, many states consider wedding receptions to be an “unlicensed social function,” meaning you don’t need one as long as you’re not charging anyone for the alcohol. But be sure to check your local regulations before moving ahead — and ask your venue if they know of any licensing requirements. Is there a cake-cutting fee? Some venues even limit your choice of bakers, but most don’t. A more common (and sneakier) tactic is to charge you a cake-cutting fee, which like corkage fees, can really add up — often at $1 per slice! DIY Detective Work These, of course, are only a few of the questions you’ll want to ask a prospective venue manager. A few more tips while you’re checking out the place: - Bring a tape measure. Get the dimensions of the room, the tables, and the distance between any features that might impact your decor, like windows. How many outlets are there and where are they located? What kind of climate control is available to you? - Check the kitchen. Does it look clean, roomy and suitable for your catering staff to work from? - Check the hall itself. Where will you put the band, the cake table, the coffee service? Are there coat racks for your guests? Is a sound system available? - Check out the parking. Is it ample? Is it paved, or can it get muddy in the case of rain? Is there handicap access? One final thing to get clear before you autograph that contract is your venue’s cancellation policy. But hopefully, with these helpful tips, you’ll have done enough homework to rest easy in your choice and not worry about having to cancel. Now that you’ve signed, take some time to sit back and relax … before you tackle the next task in that thick wedding planner! Blake Kritzberg is editor of FavorIdeas. New Boat Loans

May 17th, 2008 by twanablesi

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Damian_Sofsian]Damian Sofsian Buying a boat need not be too daunting. You can still have bit of luxury without necessarily having to go broke. There are many lending institutions that are primarily focused on giving out boat loans. And they are your best bet among the many financial lenders. For one, they can give you sound advice on the tax implications of your purchase. They can tell you that you can register your boat as a home and, therefore, deduct some taxes for owning a boat. They can also assist you in processing the necessary documents to have you cruising as soon as possible. And, they can process your application fast. Some would take just a few hours to have a package ready for you. When choosing a new boat loan, look past the interest rate figure. Most lenders will give you a choice of a fixed-interest rate for the duration of the term or a flexible rate. The experienced boat loan financiers can give you a fairly accurate projection of interest-rate fluctuations. But do remember that a fixed-rate loan, while it guarantees fixed charges for the entirety of the loan term, also carries a slightly higher rate. The flexible rate, because it factors in inflation risks, is a bit less expensive. There are also lending facilities that offer flexible repayment plans. For example, you may require a seasonal payment schedule rather than the usual monthly payment schedule. This allows you to be free in particular months to devote your resources to other obligations. You may even opt for an annual payment schedule. Or, go to the extreme and pay as often as biweekly. But before you start computing, budget first for other costs that come with taking a boat loan. You will have to pay for necessary processing fees: appraisals, underwriting, etc. that you have to go through before being approved for a loan, as well as other incidental costs. Accidents in the Workplace UK

May 14th, 2008 by twanablesi

By Martin Nolan PERSONAL INJURY FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT AT WORK IN THE UK Every year in Britain there are said to be more than a 1 million accidents at work. The vast majority of incidents involving bodily injury and hospital or medical treatment for the injured party. Many incidents occur as a result of poor safety standards being adopted by the employers. There are many many rules and regulations that govern the way workplaces should be managed and it is fair to say that Britains working environment is one of the safest in the world. However not all employers take sufficient steps to safeguard the wellbeing off their employees and as a result far more accidents take place than might otherwise be the case. Almost regardless of the type of occupation, it is possible to suffer some sort of injury in the workplace. Many people are injured on building sites and construction is probably the most dangerous sector in which to work. But it’s also possible to suffer an injury in an office or similar indoor working environment. Many employers have found it very difficult to keep up with the raft of health and safety regulations that have been introduced during the course of the last 20 to 30 years. But the simple fact is that they are required by law to adhere fully to the existing regulations and if they fail to do so an employer will be deemed negligent and a claim for personal injury compensation may result. In the UK, and any employee that has been injured in the course of his or her duties at work, may have the right to make a compensation claim against their employer. Virtually all employers have Employers Liability Insurance which indemnifies them in respect of any claims arising from their negligence or the negligence of another employee. If you have been involved in an accident at work, the chances are that you may well have the right to pursue a personal injury compensation claim. In the UK and we now have a legal system that revolves around the concept of no win no fee. This means that for all intents and purposes an individual can make a claim for compensation without incurring any liability for legal costs. The injured party will sign a no win no fee agreements with his chosen lawyer who will then pursue the case without asking for any fees up front. The general idea is that if a case succeeds, the lawyer will receive costs from the employers insurance company, whereas if the case is lost they will agree not to charge the injured party. In order for a case to proceed it must first of all have merit. The lawyer will need to assess liability and try to determine precisely how the accident occurred. In many cases the injured party may be also partly to blame to the incident or injury but such factors do not rule out the possibility of a claim. Primary liability needs to be established. The second thing that a lawyer must assess is whether the injury that has been suffered, justifies a legal claim being made. You may be entitled to claim for pain and suffering compensation, loss of earnings, loss of overtime or bonuses, treatment costs and other care / services expenses. One of the great benefits of pursuing a personal injury claim is that you are entitled to receive treatment or therapy costs which can assist in your recovery. The claims process is not just about recovering the financial losses that usually follow such incidents, your lawyer must also focus on helping the injured party make a recovery from the injuries. Please note that if an employee is absent from work for more than 3 days or if the accident was of a serious nature, the employer MUST complete a RIDDOR report form for the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). This report is a formal record of the event and is usually followed by a HSE investigation. The employer also has a duty to keep internal accident records and must ensure that all injuries are noted in an official “accident book”. If you have been injured in accidents at work then you should make immediate enquiries with a personal injury accident at work solicitor, to determine whether or not you have the right to claim damages. The Bridezilla Syndrome

May 9th, 2008 by twanablesi

By Sandra Reid Youre unhappy and everyone around you seems to be unhappy as well. Whats going on? Youve probably invested too much of yourself in the idea of perfection. Youve come to believe that every single, tiny detail has to go off without a hitch in order for your wedding to be wonderful. Youve made a series of internal decisions, which have led you farther and farther away from your true self. The result is that you get tunnel vision. Youre unable to see that youve become obsessed and driven about your wedding day. Things you might not even care so much about in your normal life, suddenly take on the power of a freight train! When other people dont measure up to your need for perfection, you go bonkers. Everything becomes overly dramatic; youre either depressed or easily agitated. When other people try to give you feedback about your urgent demands, they can seem like they just dont understand how important something is to you. Furthermore, a bridezilla can become aware that everyones kind of backing away. Most people are pretty romantic at heart. They will try their best to make you happy. But if your requests detach from the normal, people will start to try to put space between you and them. A perfect example of this was revealed by a member of a wedding party. The bride had decided two weeks before the wedding that she needed fifty-six, hand-beaded streamers to fly in the wind. This is a beautiful idea, but the request went beyond reason for a couple of important reasons: the bride didnt ask the wedding party member if she was willing to accomplish this feat- she demanded that it be done. The bride didnt consider the fact that her attendant had a full-time job and responsibilities at home. The wedding is all consuming to you, but it probably isnt to all the people around you. Keep your requests to a reasonable level. You know youve turned into a bridezilla when you become totally obsessed with the wedding. Remember, your friends and family love you. They may be very excited about the Special Day, but they want to enjoy that day with you, not a frazzled, demanding stranger. The key here is to not let your wedding take over every moment of your life. Keep doing and enjoying the things you love - the things that reflect who you really are. We know, time is at a premium here, but we want you to arrive at the wedding with your true self intact. We want the people around you to be able to rejoice in the occasion, not slump their shoulders and groan, Thank goodness thats over! Hopefully, you have a best friend who can be your emotional barometer. Ask her ahead of time to let you know if youre becoming a bridezilla. Make a pact with her that its okay to let you know that youre crossing boundaries or behaving in a way that doesnt reflect who you really are inside. You might just be a bridezilla when other people consistently begin to react badly to your ideas. Brides can lose their cooperative and collaborative spirit. They can be controlling, demanding and out of touch with the needs and capacity of other people. If you see people start to crumple around you when you ask for something, you know youre asking for too much. People love to help others. Thats part of our basic nature. But when were asked to give beyond our ability to give, the result is withdrawal, irritation and frustration. One bride we know asked all of her attendants to use up their vacation time from their jobs in order to come early and help her with the wedding. Needless to say, except for her sister, the rest of the women felt this was a request that was over the top. A giant clue about whether or not youve become a bridezilla can come from the vendors you deal with. Yes, were all for being assertive in your requests for your Special Day. However, theres a line between assertive and just plain obnoxious. Most vendors are very eager to please you. Theyre used to dealing with a lot of different types of brides. If you see them rolling their eyes, you know youve become a bridezilla. Youve maxed out the capacity of even a professional vendor! A bridezilla blames everyone else when something goes wrong. Remember, the key point here is that bridezillas have lost touch with the spirit of cooperation and collaboration. Theyve focused on their personal idea of perfection. When others dont perform in a way that will ensure perfection, the bridezilla can blow up! Weve seen a lot of beautiful, ordinarily kind and compassionate women become bridezillas because of their need for perfection. Suddenly, its like theyve become a whole different person. You may feel that your entire future rests on the right color of unity candle, but the people around you probably dont see it that way. If you request something and it doesnt quite meet your internal idea of perfection, stop for a moment and ask yourself about whats really important to you - is it really critical that your candle be ivory instead of butter cream? Is a blow up over the color of your candle really consistent with who you really are inside? Can you allow yourself to calm down, center, and get back to whats vital to you and whats really obsessing? If youre spending a lot of time getting frustrated and angry with other people because they just dont understand how important this is to me, youve probably become a bridezilla. Green House Gardening Tips and Tricks

May 4th, 2008 by twanablesi

By Percy Troughton Gardening enthusiasts in the more interesting temperate climates and any place where there are four seasons are faced with great benefits as well as challenges. Because of the four seasons, gardeners are blessed with huge plant varieties conducive for planting on one or two of the seasons. In the period of a year, they are given an opportunity to plant varieties that must grow in cooler climates, and take advantage of the sunny summer to plant those that would require more exposure to the sun. However, the seasonality of plant varieties may pose challenges to those who would rather grow plants continuously, regardless of season. This is especially true for flower and fruit varieties that require continuous sunlight for an entire year, for example, or fruit and vegetable perennials that do not bear fruit and instead shrivel up in the winter. The response to these challenges is the creation of greenhouses or greenhouse facilities. A greenhouse is a structure made of glass or plastic that stores up the suns rays in order to simulate the temperatures in the spring all year long inside. By storing up heat inside a greenhouse, it allows individuals to grow plants continuously even while winter rages hard outside it. Greenhouses also go by the name glasshouses or hothouses. The glass or plastic used in the construction of greenhouses are specially designed to have transmission qualities that will allow for the suns ultraviolet rays to be stored inside the greenhouse facility, providing a warm atmosphere inside, and in effect, warming the plants and the soil. A greenhouse leaves little or no openings through which the air heated by the stored sunlight can escape; leaving a small window or hatch open in a greenhouse will lead to a drastic drop in temperatures. The general idea of a greenhouse is to protect temperature and climate sensitive plants from extreme shifts in temperatureeither too hot or too cold. Maintaining a greenhouse has its own share of toil. Unlike the normal outdoor environment, which may be left to its own devices to some extent as nature creates some degree of balance, a greenhouse must be placed under strict regulation. Inside the greenhouse is a controlled environment that must simulate the outdoors without overdoing it. For a start, it must regulate heat and humidity inside the facility. Other factors to be considered are irrigation of the plants (and sufficiency of the water available to them), light exposure, and the presence of pests and diseases must be put into great consideration. Moreover, due to the fact that the spring outdoors is sealed into a single facility, natural activities like pollination must be simulated by the introduction of species that will help make this possible. Bumblebees are the most popular option for pollinators in greenhouses. It is recommended that greenhouses be built in the southeast portion of the property. It is in this way that the minimal sunlight available during the winter will be maximized by the greenhouse. Moreover, the house can serve to protect the greenhouse from strong winter blizzards coming in from the north. Greenhouses may be built attached to a house, or as stand-alone structures. The latter option provides more growing room for the greenhouse facility. While it may seem that there is too much to do in order to simply start a greenhouse, gardening enthusiasts will be more than willing to vouch for greenhouses, especially if gardening is a hobby. Gardening affords even the busiest of folks to tend to their plants when they are available. With a greenhouse, the constraints of day and night, and even the seasons, are put in the backseat. Greenhouses provide the option of tending to gardens even at night because lighting and heat is consistently present inside the structure. Moreover, it gives gardeners the ability to plant exotic flowers and fruits that are usually grown in warmer tropical areas as they are able to control light exposure and heat inside the greenhouse. Green houses may even provide profit-making possibilities for gardeners. With potted plants for indoor growing and flowers growing in demand, greenhouse owners are given opportunities to sell what they grow inside their greenhouses to buffer whatever maintenance costs they incur along the way. In the higher-latitude territories, greenhouses carry the important task of growing fresh produce in areas where the climates are harsh and cruel on plants. This is one of the biggest reasons for huge greenhouse facilities that house vegetables and fruits more than flowers and exotic foliage. At the end of the day, greenhouses allow for the creation of a miniaturized and highly controlled natural environment to suit gardening needs. Its growing potential to provide for fresh produce in territories even with the instability of global climate proves to be a benefit that may be explored in the future.
